Are AirPods water and sweatproof?

The AirPods are the undisputed kings of the wireless Bluetooth earphones market. Even though Apple effectively invented and currently leads the sector, the AirPods are far from flawless. Although all of the advantages, Apple has kept the water-resistance properties of AirPods a secret. Are AirPods water and sweatproof?

Look at how many people would use AirPods while exercising; sweat resistance is a key consideration. The water-resistant features of the AirPods are not mentioned on Apple’s spec sheet. This holds for both the original AirPods and the newly launched AirPods 2.

However, people often use their AirPods at the gym without trouble, and many have even withstood a wash throughout the washer. Is that to say that Are AirPods water and sweatproof?

Are AirPods water and sweatproof?

While the Apple Airpods are small and stylish, with great sound quality and noise cancellation, are they sweatproof? This is a difficult question to answer. Though Apple proudly advertises these functionalities on the Airpods Pro and PowerBeats Pro, the basic Airpods remain eerily silent.

We want answers, even though their silence says a lot. Although the Apple AirPods aren’t waterproof or even water-resistant, they must be able to withstand sweat for short periods.

If you’re concerned, the Airpods Pro, which has an IPX4 rating, would be a better option. Because the Airpods rechargeable battery isn’t water-resistant, make sure your Airpods are completely dry before powering.

What to Do When AirPods Get Wet?

The AirPods Pro does not come with a water- or liquid-resistant case, despite their water resistance.

You should make sure to clean and dry your AirPods Pro after they get wet. Once the case has been dried, you should put the AirPods back into it and let it completely dry before putting it back together.

Regardless of the conditions that AirPods have been subjected to, they will still work! Clean off unwanted materials from AirPods with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth, but never use heat or compressed air to dry them.

After cleaning them with the cloth, it’s a good idea to let them air dry before replacing them in their case. Because of their sweat-resistant technology and Bluetooth support, AirPods Pro is an excellent way to exercise. Apple AirPods Pro will likely remain waterproof for years if they’re properly cleaned.

Few users experience that AirPods are nearly impossible to repair, and if lost or damaged, the buds cost $69 each to replace. If you had the foresight to buy Applecare+, you could replace the AirPods for $29, but it wouldn’t cover any damage caused by using them in ways they weren’t meant to be used. It’s a risk even if you can claim you spilled liquid on them.

Is AirPods Pro sweatproof?

While Apple has chosen that the regular Airpods will not be water-resistant for some reason, similar features are accessible on their other variants.

This does not imply that they are impervious to sweat. The Airpods Pro features an IPX4 rating, indicating that they are sweatproof. The notion is that resistance protects against brief contact with water or effort, but they aren’t intended to be used in the showers, sauna, or for water sports such as swimming.

Another thing to remember is that your charging case is not sweated or waterproof. If you haven’t wiped your sweaty Airpods Pro, don’t put them back in to charge. Apple also warns against drying your Airpods Pro with heat or compressed air.

When does water damage your Airpods Pro? Wipe your AirPods down with a dry cloth as soon as they come into contact with any liquids. We’ll see what you can do in a minute if the manufacturer’s warranty still covers you. If your charging case gets wet, immediately turn it upside down and don’t use it until it’s totally dry.

Are the AirPods Sweat-Resistant?

Unfortunately, no. Because the AirPods lack any IP certification, they are not sweat-resistant. This isn’t to say that you can’t use the AirPods while exercising. You can use your AirPods without worry until and unless you sweat a lot or engage in any intense training that causes you to sweat like a pig.

Although several individuals have stated that their AirPods survived a washing machine wash, this does not imply that they are water-resistant. The AirPods can only withstand a certain amount of moisture exposure due to the way Apple designed them.

You can be confident that if you drop your AirPods in the pool or put a glass of water on them, they will not survive. The AirPods lack any water or sweat protection; Apple will not repair them under warranty if you are accidentally liquid damage them.

If you’re looking for sweat-resistant, completely wireless Bluetooth earphones for your iPhone, the Powerbeats Pro is a great option. It’s available directly from Apple, under the Beats moniker.

Compared to the AirPods, it has a completely different style but delivers greater sound quality, a great battery life, and sweat-resistant certification.

Are AirPods water and sweatproof?  This means you can work out with the Powerbeats Pro without fretting about liquid contamination. Apple promotes the Powerbeats Pro as an athletic device, having a longer battery life than the AirPods 2.

The Powerbeats Pro does not come with a power adapter like the AirPods, but we think most people would be upset with the greater battery life.

However, the Powerbeats Pro’s superior sound quality, perspiration resistance, and extended battery life come at a price. It costs significantly more than the AirPods, which start at $159. The Powerbeats Pro, on the other hand, costs $249.95. They are not currently available for purchase but will be by the end of the month.

Can we shower with AirPods?

The answer is absolutely no. Soaps, detergent, shampoo, conditioners, lotions, fragrances, acidic foods, oils, or any other liquid cannot use with any Airpods, such as the first, second, Pro, or Max. Additionally, they cannot use in the presence of flowing water.

Although AirPods Pro is water-resistant, it should not use in the shower since it may damage the water seals and acoustic walls. If your AirPods come into contact with any of the fluids listed above:

  1. You should wipe them down and dry them with an anti-static cloth as soon as possible.
  2. Once again, make sure to dry your Airpods before you use them thoroughly.
  3. Please place them in their charging case only once they are completely dry.

What about the Warranty? And what is the alternative to AirPods?

Indeed the Airpods aren’t covered by a warranty from corrosion from continuous use in damp environments, and they’re advertised as only being suited for perspiration and mild splashes.

They cannot be suggested for use in instances where they’re being subjected to ample moisture as they have been marketed as just suited for water splashes.

There are, however, a substantial number of users of all models of AirPods who have had no problems using their gadgets in damp environments. Are AirPods water and sweatproof? Their effective use proves that they can use it in the rain. Apple AirPods are not officially waterproof, so you should only use them in the shower if you’re wearing a hood or using an umbrella.

Matthew isn’t the only one who has had success with his AirPods in rainy situations. At the same time, it would not be very ethical to propose a gadget that was not meant for rain and wet use as suitable for shower and wet use.

So, what are your options? There are weatherproof and water-resistant wireless earbuds available. The Jaybird Vista, for example, has completed Special Forces testing and is waterproof to IPX7. Alternatively, the Jabra Elite Active 65t, which has an IP56 rating. Consider the sleek Plantronics Backbeat FIT 3200 for a good price.

What do you have to do when you accidentally drop your AirPods?

First and foremost, make sure that they are completely dry before reinstalling them in the spare battery. Wipe any remaining water from your AirPods or AirPods Pro with a dry, lint-free towel. The best option is to use a microfiber cloth.

Allow the earphones to dry naturally for at least 2 minutes after removing them from the charging case. Make sure you don’t utilize them during this period. Keep them like this, though, overnight if possible.

There’s no need to put AirPods in a bag of rice with them. It’s better to leave these earphones out in the open because they’re so little. If you get your AirPods charging case wet, you should turn it upside down. Afterward, try them again.

Therefore, are AirPods water-resistant? No, that is not the case. The AirPods 1 are seldom waterproof nor water-resistant & the AirPods 2 are spill and sweatproof, with an IPX4 rating. The AirPods Pro is the same way. With the AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro, you may wear them throughout a vigorous workout.

The earbuds you can buy instead

Those who live in damp climates or plan to work out regularly may have been turned off from AirPods. The good news is that you aren’t doomed. Waterproof headphones and earbuds are plenty; all you have to do is know where to seek.

Samsung’s latest Galaxy Buds Pro have an IPX7 rating, making them significantly more water-resistant. Another wonderful alternative is the JayBird Vista true wireless earbuds, which have soft fins that lock in your ear.

You can also look through our selection of fitness earbuds, which have linked above. To stay up in the gym, most of the items on that list have some level of water resistance or at least sweat resistance. We’ve chosen Jabra, Bose, and other brands to provide you with a diverse range of options.
